The Exhibition at Bled Castle
At Bled Castle, mentioned for the first time in written sources in the year 1011, the National Museum of Slovenia set up a museum collection after extensive renovations in 1951-1961. The ground floor of the former palace displays an exhibition on the development of monetary affairs in Slovenia and an archaeological survey of the Bled region, while the first floor features reconstructed castle interiors, enriched by paintings depicting Bled.
The castle terrace offers a nice view of the lake with its island, and visitors can also tour the castle walls and view the castle chapel with Baroque wall paintings. A separate hall shows a documentary film about the history of Bled and an animated film about the architectural development and past of Bled Castle.
