Description
Bronze double-cross belt plate from Ostrožnik in Mokronog (bottom) and a reconstruction of a leather belt with such a plate. At
the end of the Bronze Age, such double-cross plates were not only
functional pieces, but also markers of the high status of the deceased. Belt plates were usually associated with male dress in the
Urnfield culture. In the Ljubljana Urnfield culture group, however,
they were also frequent in the graves of women.
