Description

The women of Carnium wore necklaces of glass and amber beads. The glass beads were frequently made in the millefiori technique that produced floral motifs (bottom necklace). Large beads, of either glass, amber (6) or stone, mainly chalcedony (7-9), were often suspended from straps hanging from a belt. Wealthier women would use these as symbolic replacements for the usual spindle whorls made of fired clay.
