Traces of the indigenous Roman population

Traces of the indigenous Roman population
Item name:Traces of the indigenous Roman population
Dating:6th c.
Findspot:Lajh in Kranj
On display:Medieval Stories from the Crossroads

Description

A fair number of items from Kranj can be ascribed to the Roman population: earrings with a cubic bead (11), basket-shaped earrings (10), decorative pins (6), finger rings, bracelets with thickened ends (5,7), finger rings with an incised cross (9), tweezers (5) and various brooches, usually decorated with ring-and dots. The form of some brooches imitates the Germanic ones. The oil lamp of fired clay is as yet the only such item to be found in a grave; placing a lamp with the deceased is typical of the Roman funerary practice.
