Guided Tour of Famous Archaeological Objects

The guided tour of selected archaeological objects that takes you through three permanent exhibitions (Stories from the Crossroads, the Roman Lapidarium and the Ancient Egyptian Mummy) presents those of greatest importance: the Neanderthal flute from Divje babe, which is considered the oldest musical instrument in the world, the Idol from the Ljubljansko barje (Ljubljana Marshes) – a human figure from fired clay, an Ancient Egyptian mummy, the symbol of the National Museum of Slovenia – the Vače situla, a gilded statue of a citizen from Emona, as well as many others. A part of the guided tour includes practical flute-making demonstrations, trying out a Roman toga and getting a feel of some of the objects – replicas.

The special contents of the guided tour are intended to generally acquaint visitors with the National Museum of Slovenia: the establishment of the oldest museum in Slovenia, the building where it is housed and its collections.
