Academic and professional career

  • Study of 1st cycle Undergraduate program History, at the Faculty of Arts of University of Ljubljana (2009–2012), graduated with the thesis "Upper Carniola in the Middle Ages" under the mentorship of Prof Janez Mlinar (Bachelor of Arts, History (UN))
  • Study of 2nd cycle Master-degree program History, at the Faculty of Arts of University of Ljubljana (2012–2016), defended the thesis "Area – Nature – Human in the Julian Alps. History of an Area between the years 500 and 1500" under the mentorship of Prof Janez Mlinar (Master of Arts, History (UN)); received Prešeren Award of the Faculty of Arts of University of Ljubljana for the master’s thesis
  • Study of 3rd cycle Doctoral program Humanities and Social Sciences, field History, at the Faculty of Arts of University of Ljubljana (2016–2022), defended the dissertation "Social and Economic Effects of Ironmaking in the Slovenian Territory in the Late Middle Ages" under the mentorship of Prof Janez Mlinar and co-mentorship of Dr Tomaž Lazar (Doctor of Arts)
  • Since 2017 employed as a curator at the Department of History and Applied Art at the National Museum of Slovenia

Active at the Department of History and Applied Art at the National Museum of Slovenia as a curator of metalwork collection.

Research work focusing primarily on history of ironmaking in the Late Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period, study of metalwork collection, primarily research of its provenance, and interdisciplinary studies, in particular archaeometallurgy, in collaboration with specialists from Natural and Engineering Sciences.

Major research achievements

  • History of ironmaking in Late Middle Ages and 16th century (Doctoral thesis, 2021; scientific paper, published in Zgodovinski časopis journal, 2022)
  • Provenance research of the metalwork collection at the Department of History and Applied Arts at the NMS, development of museum collections and attitude towards objects of cultural heritage (two scientific papers, published in Kronika journal, 2020 and 2023)
  • Interdisciplinary archaeometallurgical analyses of nails and steel semi-finished products from the collection of metalwork (since 2018, two papers in the making)

Involved in the following museum projects and exhibitions

  • The Song of Metal. Millennia of Metallurgy in Slovenia (2019–2020), co-author of the major museum exhibition organized in collaboration with the University of Ljubljana
  • Author of the new permanent display of the metalwork collection at the National Museum of Slovenia – Metelkova (since 2022, renovation in progress)
  • Co-author of temporary exhibition The Museum through History. The First Acquisitions of the Provincial Museum for Carniola – National Museum of Slovenia (2021)
  • Scholarly assistant of the temporary exhibition Trail of Gold. The 200th Anniversary of the First Museum in Slovenia – National Museum of Slovenia (2021)
  • Paths of the Samurai. Japanese Arms and Martial Culture in Slovenia (2017), technical assistant of the temporary exhibition at the National Museum of Slovenia – Metelkova

  • Working co-mentor of the Žiga Cvek's graduation thesis "Characterization of Steel Semiproducts from 19th Century" (Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, Ljubljana, 2022)
